ADVISORY BOARD MEETING
March 21, 2001

I. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at
3:30 p.m. at City Hall, by Diane Geese.
II. Old Business
- Both the January 2001 and February 2001
minutes were accepted with minor changes.
- There was discussion regarding board member
status. Due to career changes and other
commitments, Jill Benson, Bob DeVries, Nicole
Bierma and Michael Hill are no longer able to
serve as HTC Advisory Board members. Their
past participation and involvement with HTC is
truly appreciated.
- Bob DeVries and Nichole Bierema will be
contacted and asked to attempt to find
replacement representatives from Holland
Police Department, and Ottawa County District
Court.
- Holland Christian and Holland High School
will have a joint session on April 9th.
- A motion was passed to form a “Search
Committee” to:
A.
Find a replacement as soon as possible for the
HTC coordinator. And/or, pursue organizations,
i.e., Bar Association, Holland Jaycee’s, or
HASP. And pursue College Interns to assist
with program coordination.
B.
Write a letter of Recommendation to Soren
Wolff, Holland City Manager, advising him of
the need to hire a part-time paid coordinator
to facilitate the HTC program.
- There will be a report on the status of the Seventeen
article at the next Board meeting. (April
18)
- The board reviewed methods by which the
Minutes of the meetings are distributed.
- Attendance/participation of board members
was also reviewed.
III. New Business
- Volunteers for the HCTV program are being
interviewed.
Target date for selection is April 18,
2001.
- Donations for money to provide pizza parties
after sessions is being pursued. This will
eliminate budget line item expenditures.
- Certificates of Appreciation will be given
to all students who have volunteered to help
with HTC. They will be presented at the school’s
Honor’s Assembly.
- Administrative contacts will be made to
re-establish contact with West Ottawa High
School in order for them to be able to
participate. Black River and Calvary Baptist
will also be considered.
IV. Member Announcements
- The next meeting is scheduled for April 18,
2001, at 3:30 p.m. at City Hall, 270 South
River Avenue, Holland, Michigan. Please
contact Human Relations Office at (616)
355-1328 April 17, 2001 if you are unable to
attend.
