COURT
ADVISORY BOARD MEETING MINUTES
MAY 21, 2003
Present: Chanda Miller,
Duane Baker, Cindy vanderPeyl, Alice Holliman, Lee
Hoeksema, Nicole Bierema, Al Rios.
Absent: Mark Ponitz (exc.),
Joyce Barkel (exc.), Mark Geister (exc.),
Sarah Johnson, Chelsea Brown, Jennifer DeYoung
(exc.).
I. Call to Order
- The meeting was called to order at 3:40.
II. Welcome/Introductions
- No introductions as no visitors present.
III. Approval of Minutes
- Minutes of April meeting were distributed
and accepted.
IV. Unfinished Business
- Trials held in West Olive on April 23 went
well. Two cases were heard.
- Mark contacted a teacher at West Ottawa High
School. Currently they have no law class.
Chanda will try to contact the principal to
find out if they are interested in involvement
in Teen Court.
V. New Business
- We need to obtain names and contact
information for jurors available to serve
during the summer.
- The next trial date is May 28 in Holland
District Court. Currently only one case is
scheduled.
- The Board needs new student representatives
from Holland High and Holland Christian as
both of the current student representatives
are graduating this year.
- The Board discussed willingness of current
members to extend terms on this Board.
VI. Announcements
- The next board meeting will be June 18, 2003
at 3:30, Third Floor Conference Room. Please
contact Teen Court Program Coordinator, Chanda
Miller (355-1325) if you are unable to attend
the meeting.
