TEEN COURT
ADVISORY BOARD MEETING
MINUTES
June 19, 2002

Present: Duane Baker, Joyce Barkel, Nicole Bierema, Chelsea Brown, Jennifer De Young, Mark Geister, Alice Holliman, Michael Kersman, Adam Rett, Robin Rett, and Al Rios.

Absent: Lee Hoeksema and Cindy VanderPeyl

• The meeting was called to order at 3:30 p.m. at City Hall, 270 South River Avenue, Holland, Michigan by Mark Geister.

II.  Approval of Minutes

• The May minutes were approved.

• The referral list has been updated.
• Currently one referral is ready to be processed.  The next  session is scheduled for July 9th at 58th District Court. The jury pool of students from Holland Public and Holland Christian Schools will handle the cases through the summer. The presiding judge is Cindy VanderPeyl.

IV. New Business

• New board member is needed from Zeeland High School.  Recommendation from Adam Rett, Zeeland High student representative, was to invite Mr. Pierre Sirois, a government/history teacher.  Letter has been sent giving Mr. Sirois some preliminary information regarding Teen Court and inviting him to consider joining the Advisory Board.
• The Holland High School student representative will be appointed in September.
• Mark Geister stepped down as board chair after his one year term expired. Michael Kersman, co-chair was appointed chair. Al Rios was appointed to fill the co-chair position.

V. Announcements

• The next board meeting is scheduled for July 17, at 3:30 p.m. in the third floor conference room, at City Hall.  Please contact Joyce Barkel at (616) 355-1324 if you are unable to attend.
