TEEN COURT
ADVISORY BOARD MEETING
June 20, 2001
Minutes

Present:            Joyce Barkel, Nicole Beirema, Diane Geese, Mark Geister, Michael Kersman, Al Rios, Alice Holliman, Josh Wise

Absent:             Adam Rett, Duane Baker, Jennifer DeYoung, Chelsea Brown, Kathleen Whitfield

I.          Call to Order

• The meeting was called to order at 3:30 p.m. at City Hall, 270 South River Avenue, Holland, Michigan, by Diane Geese.

II.        Old Business

• The Vice Principal of Black River School will be invited to attend the next Teen Court session in preparation for their involvement.
• It was decided to postpone until fall the letter to Soren Wolfe requesting that a paid position of coordinator be included in the City of Holland’s budget.

III.       New Business

• Proposal was accepted to transfer Zeeland involvement to the Life Management Department under the leadership of Melissa Elliott/Gail Weigal.
• Nominations were opened up for Board officer positions and voting held.  The current CoChair, Mark Geister, will move to the Chairperson position; the new CoChair will be Michael Kersman, and the Recorder will be Josh Wise.
• Nine cases will be processed with a pool of Holland, Zeeland, and Holland Christian students on Monday, July 9 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the District Court building.  There are four retail fraud, four malicious destruction of property (one jury to process all four at the same time), and one run-away.

IV.       Member Announcements

• The next meeting is scheduled for July 18 at 3:30 p.m. at City Hall, 270 South River Avenue, Holland, Michigan.  Please contact Human Relations Office at (616) 355-1328 by July 17, 2001, if you are unable to attend.
